BANKS

Banks has a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics with a minor in computer science. He has 12 years of experience tutoring all levels of mathematics, geometry, advanced algebra, calculus, English, social studies, the SAT/ACT as well as physics and computer science. Banks is a credentialed teacher for gifted students in grades 6-12 at GATE school.

He fosters the creation for a solid foundation in academics by creating confidence and potential.

In his spare time, Banks loves riding his bike and hiking.

KATRINA

Katrina has several years of both teaching and tutoring experience in E.L.L., E.L.D., and E.S.L. for K-12 students. She has taught special programs at Marin Academy and is formally trained in L.I.P.S., Verbalize/Visualize, and Seeing Stars Lindamood-Bell reading programs. She also tutors elementary and middle school math, writing and spelling. Katrina is a time management and organizational skills coach for all grade levels.

MALLORY

Mallory has a master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She has over a decade of experience teaching high school mathematics with a specialization in geometry and algebra.  Mallory earned Teacher of the Year awards at two schools and has been widely recognized as a math teacher.  She has experience teaching and tutoring students of all backgrounds and consistently helps her students attain results.

RYAN

Ryan has a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Wisconsin and is a current medical student. He teaches a wide range of K-12 and college students. He tutors math, science, English and writing skills , history and Spanish. He also tutors standardized test prep., including the SSAT, ACT, SAT, and MCAT, with students scoring up to the 99th percentile for all exams. His students excel in science, English, statistics, biochemistry, Spanish and math . If you name it, he can tutor it.

McKenzie

McKenzie graduated from UC Berkeley with a bachelor’s in integrative biology. She has a master’s in Physician Assistant Studies. She has over ten years of experience and success in tutoring ages ranging from first graders to high school seniors. Subjects include reading, phonics, writing, science, biology, chemistry, and all levels of K-12 math up to and including pre-calculus. McKenzie is well-acquainted with the state standards core checklist and ensures that her students’ learning aligns with the goals and expectations set forth by these standards.

LAILA

Laila has an BBA in marketing, management, computer information systems and operations management, an MBA in marketing and management, an MIT in applications development and several advanced certificates with distinction.  She has taught at both private, Catholic, and public schools as a math & science teacher for middle, pre-collegiate programs and high school.  She is a test prep expert for SSAT, ACT, SAT, ISEE, HSPT, GRE, GMAT.  She has 5 plus years as a high school admissions and college admissions consultant.  Laila is a published writer, loves to read and enjoys ballet.

GADIEL

A native of Marin County, Gadiel attended the Branson School for high school. Gadiel earned a B.S. degree in psychology from UC Davis, and a master's degree in education plus a California Teaching Credential. He has taught high school mathematics at Marin Academy. Having tutored math and the SAT/SSAT for over 10 years, he has experience working with students of all ages. Gadiel is a huge sports fan, coaches high school volleyball, basketball and baseball, and enjoys exploring the outdoors of Marin and San Francisco.

Joseph

Joseph is a senior at Brown University , with a concentration in neuroscience and economics. He is a member of Brown’s Program in Liberal Medical Education (PLME), a highly selective 8-year medical program. He will start his medical career at the Warren Alpert Medical School in 2022. 

Joseph has five years of tutoring experience with middle and high school students in-person and over Zoom. He works with students at various competency levels and with different learning disabilities (e.g. ADHD, dyslexia). Through hundreds of hours of tutoring, he has perfected planning lessons and adapted them to fit each student’s learning style and needs. In his spare time, he plays tennis and learns new languages.

ZACK

Zack graduated from MIT with a degree in mechanical engineering. He has over 5 years of tutoring experience and has worked with students of all ages in a variety of subjects, including  K-12 mathematics, science, English, history, Spanish, ACT and SAT test prep, and introductory computer programming. He enjoys teaching students how to break apart complex problems into components they can more easily tackle and aspires to help them develop better study habits so that students can more effectively learn on their own. Outside of tutoring, Zack loves playing baseball, mountain biking, reading.

TODD

Todd attended Tufts University for International Relations. He studied Spanish for more than 20 years. His love and passion for the language inspired him to move to Madrid, Spain where he immersed in the culture and lived with a Spanish family who spoke no English. 

Todd has worked for Stanford University's Online High School for many years. As a result, he has a unique perspective on the rigorous demands of pre-collegiate students who strive to excel. He brings individualized attention to each student and welcomes all students, regardless of status. He has taught intensive Spanish classes and has tutored Spanish conversation since 2000.

CHRIS

Chris has both a BA and MA in mathematics and has taught mathematics and science for 20 years. He specializes in physics, honors physics, pre-calc., calculus AB, calc. BC, chemistry, honors chem., geometry, algebra 2, English, history and linear algebra. Chris also teaches students study skills and organization skills. His current hobbies are golfing and traveling.

KATIE

Katie attended Harvard University where she received her B.A. in biological anthropology and her M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction. A native of Marin County who attended Ross School and Redwood High, Katie returned to Marin to teach 6th-8th grade math, algebra, and science at Del Mar Middle School and Kent Middle School for 15 years. For the last 8 years, she has worked as a Professional Learning Consultant and subject matter expert for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, the K-12 Educational Learning Company, training and coaching K-12 teachers across the United States in both curriculum and practice-based instruction in math, science, English, and social studies. Katie holds a multiple subject credential (PreK-5) and single subject credential in Math.

MATTHEW

Matthew is a student at Yale University. Outside of class, he studies classical piano and organizes biannual events for adopted Korean children. Areas of expertise include algebra 1/2, pre-calculus, calculus AB/BC, multi-variable calculus, AP biology, AP chemistry, AP physics, AP environmental science, music theory, and Chinese. Matthew is always eager to support students in all subjects and guide them through their studies.

SEAN

Sean has a bachelor’s degree from U.C. Santa Barbara. He has a passion for youth development and a holistic approach to tutoring that incorporates executive functioning and character building. Sean has 5+ years of experience tutoring a broad range of subjects, with expertise in middle school math , algebra 1/2, geometry, pre-calculus, English, history, SAT/ACT, as well as K-8 math, writing, and reading comprehension. Sean's passions include skiing and theater.

GLENN

Glenn Tobe has a love for teaching and writing. He has taught, developed, edited, written and mentored dozen of students. Most of his students are struggling to read, comprehend and write. From students struggling with SAT exams, senior thesis, college admission personal essays and large term papers, he has helped a wide range of students for over 12 years. He graduated from Columbia University and received advanced degrees from John F. Kennedy University. He has been a guest lecturer at U.C. Berkeley, Haas School of Business and Emory University.  Two of his students went on to win state academic awards. He has been a high school baseball coach and relates well to the teenage population. His teaching style is to light a fire in the student to develop a love of reading and writing.

NICOLE

Nicole holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from University of California, San Diego. She scored above the 95th percentile on the SAT and on the psychology section of the MCAT. She has taught grades K-12 and college level students using techniques to help students better understand the core curriculum. She has taught medical students as a guest speaker in "Selectives" at Saint George's University School of Medicine and tutored students in the nursing school. Nicole tutors K-12 students on the SAT verbal section, biology , psychology, integrated science and reading and writing skills.

DANIEL

Daniel is a student at Brown University with a major in engineering . You can usually find him tutoring middle and high school students, inventing engineering projects, and drawing. My tutoring specialties include all levels of middle school and high school English and writing skills, geometry and all levels of mathematics through calculus AB and honors chemistry.  He plays water polo competitively for Brown and across the nation.

NICHOLAS

Nicholas is a dedicated learning and development professional with many years of experience teaching students of all ages. He holds a bachelor’s of science from the University of California San Diego, a cutting-edge university that has positioned him to enlighten young minds. Nick believes the foundations for effective teaching are based on two critical factors: engagement and personalization. As no two students are the same, he is devoted to understanding each of his student’s learning processes. His teaching style is highly interactive, effective, and enthusiastic to promote participation from every student in math, reading , science , writing and time management skills.

ALLYSON

Allyson obtained her B.A. in communications from Loyola University, and taught at an accelerated private school. She has experience teaching all subjects across the curriculum from kindergarten to 5th grade level. She also assists high school students in essay writing, journalistic writing, SAT verbal, and college admissions essays. Allyson tutors students in K-6 reading comprehension, phonics, math, homework coaching and organizational skills.

ANDREEA

Andreea holds an MSc in computer science and a BSc in neuroscience.  She tutors math, science, writing skills, AP statistics, economics, pre-calculus, geometry, advanced algebra, Spanish and computer science. She is friendly, approachable, patient and enjoys helping students nail their exams, giving them a boost of confidence, and improving their organizational skills and fact-based knowledge.

Jon (M.S.Ed., M.B.A)

Jon has an M.S. in Education from Concordia University and an MBA from Kellogg business school at Northwestern University . He is certified to teach grades 6-12 mathematics, computer science, business and marketing. Jon spent the past 20 years in education working as a program manager at the education publisher Houghton Mifflin. He served on the Board of Education for several years. Jon is passionate about teaching all areas of middle school, high school and college mathematics, history and English and especially in raising the bar for and deeply engaging students in pre-algebra and algebra.
